Flatbed rates and volumes move upward

Plenty of flatbed markets in the South and East experienced rising prices, including Birmingham, Tampa, Atlanta, Savannah, Raleigh, Harrisburg, Dallas and Phoenix. Some of the lanes where rates increased last week included: Houston to Oklahoma City jumped 38¢ to $2.55/mi. Phoenix to El Paso, TX gained 32¢ to $2.08/mi.

4 reasons flatbed should bounce back soon

A few flatbed markets saw some decent rate increases last week, including Houston , Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Houston to Los Angeles surged 46¢ to $2.24/mi. Las Vegas to Phoenix gained 42¢ to $2.97/mi. We saw falling rates in Atlanta , Cleveland and Harrisburg, PA. Phoenix to Dallas dropped 36¢ to $1.51/mi.

Flatbed Markets Continue to Boom

Last week, flatbed volumes surged 10% higher, led by Houston, Fort Worth and Cleveland. The oil industry has also fueled the Texas markets: Rates were higher last week out of Dallas and Fort Worth , while Houston held firm. The average outbound rate last week in Phoenix was just $1.79/mile,

October Flatbed Rates Were Highest of the Year

Flatbed rates were down out of a handful of Sunbelt markets: Atlanta, Savannah, Fort Worth, and Phoenix. The lane from Cleveland to Harrisburg backed off some previous highs, falling to $3.56/mile. Houston prices have mostly been neutral, but the lane to Wichita, KS , fell to just $1.77/mile.

Hot Flatbed Segment Shows Signs of Cooling

Some of the hot spots for flatbeds last week included Las Vegas and Phoenix in the West, and the Raleigh-Greensboro-Roanoke markets in the Southeast. Las Vegas to Phoenix rates exploded, rocketing up $1.44 Houston to Bismarck, ND jumped 76¢ to $3.14/mile. Houston to Oklahoma City slipped 52¢ to $3.44/mile.

Flatbed Demand Soars, Boosting Rates 11¢

Houston is the top market for flatbed loads. Houston to Ft Worth added 23¢, to $2.80/mile. Phoenix to Ontario, CA rates were up 17¢, but only to $1.89/mile. Cleveland to Harrisburg lost 41¢ to $3.99/mile. The strongest markets for flatbed loads and rates were in the Sunbelt.

Flatbed Freight Continues to Gain Momentum

Houston is the number one flatbed market by volume, and the average outbound rate there rose 10¢ to $2.67/mile. Phoenix is still the lowest-paying of the major flatbed markets, but volumes improved there last week. The average rate on the lane from Cleveland to Roanoke dropped 24¢, but it’s still a powerhouse at $3.61/mile.
