If this is not flattering, there is Yara Birkeland vessel, a 100% autonomous container ship which is under trial right now but will be in operation by 2020 to move fertilizer and chemicals to Norway from the agricultural industry. It is the first baby steps but with technology, there is no doubt that it will be successful and will pave the way for many such cargo ships to come and operate in the big sea. Norway Takes Lead in Race to Build Autonomous Cargo Ships (WSJ – sub. Amazon reported its Q2 2017 results yesterday. Revenues increased 25 percent to $38 billion in the quarter compared to Q2 2016, but profits fell by 77 percent as the company continues to invest heavily in its various businesses, including its logistics and fulfillment network. Shipping expenses increased 36 percent in the quarter to over $4.5 billion.
