Package theft is on the rise as “porch pirates” continue to swipe packages from people’s doorsteps. The holiday season is the busiest time for package theft, as more and more items are delivered. For the 2023 holiday season alone, it is anticipated that between 850 million and 950 million packages will be delivered.

Yum Brands – parent company of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and The Habit Burger Grill – recently announced a new packaging policy prioritizing more sustainable options. In a blog post, Yum noted it is transitioning away from plastics and developing new packaging solutions as part of that policy. And now on to this week’s logistics news.

After years of financial struggles, reports of Yellow preparing for bankruptcy emerged last week as the Nashville, Tennessee-based trucker saw customers leave in large numbers. The center, known as YXU1, will see employees work alongside robotics technology to pick, pack and ship up to 750,000 items a day.

They are pushing costs back on Mondelez while Dell controls a major part of their channel through their direct ship model. They are closely coupled.

Moving on to 3PL news, FedEx was indicted by the Justice Department for shipping packages from illegal online pharmacies despite being warned from U.S. drug enforcement officials.
