Both those markets are distribution hubs for e-commerce, which has stretched the traditional holiday retail freight season well into December. REEFER TRENDS: Idaho lit up the Hot States map last week, and with good reason. Rates rose out of Buffalo and Seattle.

Reefer rates continued to their spring momentum, but volumes were down significantly in several major markets, including Southern Idaho, Grand Rapids, and Philadelphia. Even though volumes were down in Florida , the wildfires and evacuations made it more expensive to move freight. Miami to Boston reefer rates were up 23¢ to $2.14/mile.
