Amazon Prime Offers Same-Day Delivery from Retailers

The initial 10 cities for the Amazon service are Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Seattle and Washington D.C., The service will be powered by Delivery Service Providers (DSPs), independent contractors in Amazon-branded vans and uniforms. with more to follow.

Van demand increases ahead of Labor Day

In the past month, Buffalo and Seattle have been gaining strength, too. Denver to Phoenix increased 18¢ to $1.29/mile. Seattle to Spokane added 15¢ to $3.67/mile. Seattle to Eugene pulled back 14¢, to $2.96/mile. Rates out of Denver took the biggest jump last week, followed by Columbus, Ohio. FALLING RATES.

October Flatbed Rates Were Highest of the Year

Flatbed rates were down out of a handful of Sunbelt markets: Atlanta, Savannah, Fort Worth, and Phoenix. Out West, Reno to Seattle declined to $1.98/mile. Phoenix to Ontario, CA , was also down, at $1.81/mile. The biggest declines for the month were on lanes out of Raleigh and Baltimore.

Van Rates Rise Ahead of Roadcheck Inspections

Two lanes out of Stockton also saw big increases: Stockton to Seattle surged 42¢ to $3.41/mile. Stockton to Seattle increased 22¢ to $3.26/mile. Out West, Denver to Phoenix was down 13¢ to just $1.28/mile. Strong inbound volumes to the Northeast kept rates down in that region.
