Hurricane Michael halts shipments

Road closures halted shipments on major trade routes like I-10 between Houston, New Orleans and Jacksonville , and I-75 up from Florida to Atlanta. One noteworthy thing was that pricing out of Atlanta and Charlotte was mostly neutral despite all the canceled shipments from there to Florida. Rates fell on 70 of the top 100 van lanes.

Spot Market Van Rates Soared in September

One exception was out West: Rates on the lane from Seattle to Salt Lake City gained 36¢ at $2.25/mile. Atlanta to Lakeland, FL , fell 19¢ but still averaged $3.24/mile. Atlanta to Miami was down 22¢ to $3.43/mile. One lane that still doesn’t pay well, though, is the one from Seattle to Stockton, CA.
